History
Doug's first operating company. Built Carrentals.co.uk and DiscountVouchers.co.uk over the following fifteen years.
Sold both businesses after fifteen years building them, then founded Redbrain the same year — bootstrapped, with no outside investment.
Doug resigned day-to-day commercial directorships in March 2025 after nine years operating the business.
New site portfolio, operated under 37X Ltd, applying the same compliance standard to every new project.
Leadership
Founder, 37X Ltd
Founded Redbrain in 2016 and ran it for nine years, bootstrapped throughout with no outside investment, before stepping back from day-to-day operations in March 2025. Earlier built Carrentals.co.uk and DiscountVouchers.co.uk under ASAP Ventures (2001–2016), selling both the same year he founded Redbrain. Doug is the sole point of contact for every 37X Ventures programme application — no anonymous teams, no outsourced compliance.
How 37X Ventures works
Projects are designed around genuine user intent, useful information and appropriate merchant matching.
Brand guidelines, programme terms and restricted promotional methods are treated as operating requirements, not suggestions.
No proprietary black boxes — traffic sources, placements and testing plans are shared on request, not hidden behind the application.
The objective is durable incremental demand, not low-quality volume or activity that conflicts with other partners.
Portfolio
A working history you can check before approving anything new — spanning commerce technology, travel comparison, consumer discounts and digital publishing.
Commerce technology
Redbrain is a commerce technology business Doug founded in 2016 and ran for nine years, bootstrapped throughout with no outside investment. It operates as a shopping comparison and product-discovery platform, connecting shoppers actively searching for products with retailers across multiple categories, and generating measurable, trackable sales through performance-based channels. Doug stepped back from day-to-day operations in March 2025 but retains control through majority voting rights held via his family office, Longsands Gaia Ltd.
Car hire comparison · Sold 2016
Carrentals.co.uk was a car-rental comparison business Doug built under ASAP Ventures (2001–2016) to help travellers compare providers across international routes and book directly. It aggregated rates from major global rental brands alongside independent operators, processing over one million rentals before Doug sold the business in 2016.
Voucher and offer discovery · Sold 2016
DiscountVouchers.co.uk was a UK discount and offer platform, also built under ASAP Ventures, connecting consumers with current promotional codes and offers from major high-street and specialist online retailers. It grew to more than 6 million email subscribers through repeat-visit engagement, operating on an affiliate-funded model, before Doug sold the business in 2016.
Digital publishing and audience distribution
TimeToBreak is a digital publishing and audience-discovery platform, still owned and operated by Doug, distributing consumer-interest content across a network of channels. At its peak it reached over 6 million visitors a day; traffic has declined substantially since, though the property remains active within the 37X Ventures portfolio.
New projects
Doug continues to develop focused commerce and discovery products through 37X Ventures. Individual sites may be early-stage, but every one is operated by the same founder who built Redbrain, Carrentals.co.uk and DiscountVouchers.co.uk.
